John Boyle O'Reilly Summer School

This year's John Boyle O'Reilly School , hosted by The Old Drogheda Society , took place on Sunday September 9th in the Boyne Valley Hotel , Drogheda .This year's theme was " The Flight of the Earls" . About 90 members and friends of the Society attended a very enjoyable day with each of this years speakers Dr John McGurk , Dr Patrick Fitzgerald and John McCavitt giving interesting insights into the Flight of the Earls 400 years ago .

The day concluded with a talk by Romena Carolan on the life and times of Dowth born John Boyle O'Reilly and many of the attendance travelled to the cemetery at Dowd to view the memorial to Boyle O'Reilly and a number of songs were sang .

It was generally agreed that this years event was a most enjoyable one .
