Library & Archives
The
museum houses an extensive archival library containing primary source
material on the history, archaeology, folklore and the cultural heritage
of Drogheda.
There is also a collection of maps of Drogheda’s & Co. Louth, Church records, Workers Union and Rate books that contain the names and addresses of householders in the town from the late 19th century; again, a valuable source of information for the study of Genealogy and Community History.
There is also a very extensive collection of local newspapers dating
from the early 19th century such as the Drogheda Advertiser, the Drogheda
Conservative, the Drogheda Argus and the Drogheda Independent, all
of which were weekly newspapers and contain the most valuable information
on the social, political and economical life of Drogheda; a fantastic
source of history, archaeological and ecclesiastical information a treasure to behold
in itself.
